IFC Transfers Secretariat of Lao Business Forum to Lao National Chamber of Commerce and Industry

Vientiane, Lao PDR, February 25, 2010–IFC, a member of the World Bank Group, has transferred operation of the Lao Business Forum to the Lao National Chamber of Commerce and Industry to recognize the chamber’s ability to moderate the policy dialogue between the government and private sector.

 Lao Business Form (LBF) The LBF is designed to improve the business enabling environment by providing a platform for effective dialogue between the business community and Government and facilitating information-sharing with potential investors.. Among its key activities, the LBF plays the role of:1.      Promoting consistent enforcement and non-discretionary interpretation of laws and regulations2.      Removing the barriers that businesses face with regard to entry and exit 3.      Providing feedback on various Government policies affecting the private sector4.      Providing inputs to draft Government laws and regulations that could affect the private sector
